There are many perfectly legitimate ways to ascend to positions of economic authority: innovation, creativity, intelligence, responsibility and prudence - to name a few. Those who get to build the economic structures have that opportunity because of their contribution to the economy. And because they are interested in adding value to the market - not cheating it - they will self-regulate. The isolation, apathy, and disconnect that corruption hourglasses foster encourage a turn from human connections as a means of daily fulfillment to other, more selfish means. When brutality is directed inwards it becomes abuse. Because it fails to provide a lack of understanding or satisfaction, this activity quickly becomes addictive. Vote sizing (or at least the type endorsed on this web site) primarily concerns itself with the relationship between wealth and power − for two reasons: 1) This is where we believe corruption stems from, and even more importantly, 2) They form the two basic value systems that guide us through life.
