Introduction
The struggle between the ruler and the ruled has a long and chequered history. There was a time when rulers were perceived as emerging from heaven and therefore, having divine rights, and nobody could dare oppose (or challenge) their authority. As time went on, it was realised that government should and must be for the interest of the people. But this transition was not without resistance. The English revolution of 1688, the American Revolution of 1776 and the French Revolution of...
Empowerment Inc. is an exciting new offshoot of vote sizing. Just as the Democratic Empowerment Party is the political arm of vote sizing (itself the social manifestation of the fair choice) - Empowerment Inc. is vote sizing's economic arm.

One reason the rich keep getting richer is because capitalism functions on the principle of weighted money - the more money you have, the easier it is to buy and consume. For instance, magazines are cheaper when you buy a subscription, and cigarettes are cheaper by the carton than a pack at a time. If you have enough money to buy lots of magazines and cigarettes, then you can open up a kiosk and sell them on the street corner.
If your kiosk makes enough money, you can use the profits to...
Democratic Empowerment Party (DEP) founder and president Steve Glickman usually tries his hardest to shy away from discussing religion or scripture, preferring to stick to the here-and-now. However, it’s hard not to draw parallels between his model of a better society - using what he calls ‘vote sizing’ - and the messages Jesus taught.
Glickman’s idea to replace one-person-one-vote with a weighted vote system to favor poorer, working and middle-class people has...
Pakistani president Musharraf’s most recent raspberry at democracy is just one more example of the fatal flaw in the “one-person-one-vote” system, Steve Glickman, founder of the Democratic Empowerment Party said today.
“This is just the latest meltdown in the Bush administration’s foreign policy, and it’s pretty much what we can expect when the gap between the vote’s symbolic value and actual value is large enough to swallow up whole planets,...

A New Lease on Life
By Juliet Farmer.
I was rocked by the events of 9/11, but that wasn’t the only major event to occur
in my life last year. In December of 2001, I was diagnosed with cancer.
I’ve spent most of 2002 battling for my life. The doctor’s jobs were to kill
every cancer cell in my body, but a lot of the time it felt like they were really
trying to kill me. There were days when I didn’t think I had any strength left to
fight - days when it was a struggle even to get out of bed....

{Billboard} Column: Tuning Out
One person, one-tenth the vote
June 13, 2002
by James Keller, Opinions Editor
There are some very basic concepts on which most democracies--and ultimately the very definition of democracy--stand on. Secret ballots, universal suffrage, freedom of expression of one's political views and, perhaps most important, everyone having an equal say. One person, one vote.
Oddly enough, this is a concept not everyone agrees with--even those...
